Joseph Lujan Obituary
The Rosary for Joseph “Dario” Lujan, 75, of Portales will be recited at 9:00 AM, Monday, June 1, 2026 at St. Helen Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 AM by Fr. Francisco Carbajal. Mr. Lujan’s grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Joseph Lujan, known to family and friends as “Dario” was born May 22, 1951 in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of Lucy (Luna) and Faustin Lujan, and passed from this life on May 26, 2026 in Lubbock, TX. When he was a tiny baby, his family moved to Clovis. On Feb. 14, 1974 in Oro Grande, NM he was married to Esther Doge. In 1976, they moved from Clovis, and made their home in Portales. For several years he worked driving trucks. During that time, he drove for AMPI and Greer and Greer among others. He eventually obtained a contractor’s license and established Lujan Construction Company. He was a simple man who enjoyed being with his family. He spent a great deal of his time teaching his sons and grandchildren how to build and repair things.
Survivors include Esther, his wife of more than 52 years of their home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Josephe Lujan, Jr. of Clovis and Mariano and Brenda Lujan of Portales; five grandchildren, Nicole Lujan and her companion, Jaime Honorato, Mariano Lujan, Jr. and his fiancé, Aliyah Garcia, J. J. Lujan and his wife, Analysia, Joseph Lujan and Abriana Lujan; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Mariana Lujan; two brothers, Bobby Lujan of Albuquerque and Tommy Lujan of Pojoaque, NM; and two sisters, Nora Garcia and Mary Anne Baca. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Helen Rando and Beck Baca and by a grandson, Xavier Lujan.
