On January 18th and 19th, Commandos Cats & Canines, a non-profit animal rescue group based out of Cannon AFB, will be hosting a low cost walk-in clinic for vaccines and microchipping.

For many, the opportunity to microchip their pets, or pay for vaccines, seems impossible. With costs rising for living, taking your furry companions in for their routine appointments may seem infeasible.

Vaccinating is important for animal health. With diseases around like canine parvovirus (highly contagious infection that is often fatal) and rabies (viral disease affecting both cats & dogs and is always fatal). To prevent these diseases from further spreading, vaccinations are necessary.

Thankfully, non-profit organizations in the area are willing to team up with veterinarians to provide low-cost care for your dogs and cats. This includes microchipping your animals as well.

Microchipping provides a forever bond with your furry friend. Once a small microchip is inserted under the skin of your pet, it will tie them to a permanent listing with your contact info. If your pet is every lost or stolen, the ID information provides a much more accurate way or finding them. Statistically speaking, 1 in 3 pets go missing at some point. Microchipping provides a way to find them, even if they lose their collar too.

With Commandos Cats & Canines providing a low-cost walk-in clinic, as well as low-cost spay and neuter clinics, they’re providing you with the opportunity to give your pets the very best care they can get.

So, mark your calendars for January 18-19 at Hydration Station in Portales. If you’d like more information, please visit the Facebook Event page by clicking HERE.
