Mable Romero was born July 23, 1948 in Clovis, NM, and died on the afternoon of Dec. 1, 2022 in Portales.  Mrs. Romero grew up in the Clovis-Portales area as well as in the midwestern United States, as her father was a migrant worker and traveled to where he could get work.  At the age of 15, she came back to Portales to make her home.  Through the years, she had worked at a number of places including the University Bookstore and the local Walmart.  She retired from Walmart after 20 years with the company.

On June 27, 2000, she was married to Juan Romero.  Mable was a faithful member of St. Helen Catholic Church and an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America.  Mrs. Romero was a very devoted mother and grandmother, and had helped to raise her grandchildren.  She really enjoyed being with each of them.  For relaxation, Mable liked to travel.  She had a very bubbly personality, and was always ready for whatever activity or trip that came up.  When she had the chance, she always enjoyed a cold beer on the patio with her sister.

She is survived by Juan, her husband of more than 22 years; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Candace Baros of Portales; her daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Angel Coronado of Chihuahua, Mexico; nine grandchildren, Jordan Baros, Heather (Justin) Raburn, Isiah Lucero, Jason Rodriguez, Raven Rodriguez, Hawk Rodriguez, Savannah (Ricardo) Rojas, Angelo Aragon and Ashley Aragon; five great-grandchildren, Juan Rojas, Adrian Rojas, Mireya Avila, Sky Manley and Aleah Aragon; four sisters, Nora Eppley of Houston, TX, Yolanda Romero, Neva (Berto) Ortega and Cindy (Polo) Ortega of Portales; and a brother-in-law, Paul Martinez of Albuquerque.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Timeteo Torres, a sister, Alma Martinez and a son, Arthur Aragon who died May 31, 1998.
