Graveside services for Frances Tivis will be held at 2:00 PM, Wed., Dec. 29, 2021 in the Floyd Cemetery with Tory Luce officiating.  Bryan Luce, Glen Tivis, Kie Tivis, Dallas Tivis, Bobby Luce, Tyler Luce and Wyatt Luce will serve as pallbearers.  All of her other grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.  The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

Mary Francis Tivis was born Nov. 10, 1933 in House, NM.  As a girl, she moved to Floyd where she graduated from high school in 1954.  On Nov. 22, 1956 in Portales, she was married to Loyd Tivis.  They made their home in Portales.  For a season of time Francis worked at the local Sprouse Rietz, and later at Owens Food Market.  She was also employed at Eastern New Mexico University in the Library where she primarily made copies for the professors to use in class.  Her last place of employment was at what is now Wells Fargo Bank as a teller.  Frances retired in 1998 after 17 years.

Frances loved to sew, as well as crochet and knit. She made blankets and various other things to give as gifts. She was a natural caregiver. If there was a family that suffered a loss of any kind, she was quick to take food, or offer help. She rendered care to numerous family members when they were in ill health. She was a very generous and loving lady.

Frances is survived by a son, Glen Tivis and his companion, Jeanell Paiz of Portales; a daughter and son-in-law, Carrol and Bryan Luce of Clovis; five grandchildren, Kie (Kristy) Tivis, James Tivis, Bobby Mac (Tory) Luce, Tyler Dan (Ashley) Luce and Chelsy Ann Luce; 7 great-grandchildren, Dallas,Madelin, Wyatt, Cutter, Rowdy, Holden and Hudson; two brothers, Elvin Allen and Melvin Allen both of Snyder, TX and a sister, Beverly Washaw of Slaton, TX.  She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Will Allen, Jr., Earl Allen and Charles Allen, five sisters, Norma Gray, Faye Carroll, Wilma Yarbro, Alice Ernestine Allen and Shirley Allen, a great grand child, Bailee Tivis, and by her beloved husband, Loyd who died Jan. 18, 2011.
