SANTA FE, NM – Joy Esparsen is the new executive director at New Mexico Counties, an organization that serves all 33 New Mexico counties. Esparsen has worked at NMC for almost 20 years, starting as the executive director liaison and advancing to deputy executive director. She currently chairs the National Association of Counties intergovernmental relations officials, and for many years has worked on national issues of critical importance to county government. As executive director, Esparsen will help plan and implement NMC policies, objectives, and programs and will play a major role in NMC’s legislative platform and initiatives at the local, state, and federal level. She holds a bachelor’s degree and MBA with a concentration in strategic management and public policy from the University of New Mexico.

The New Mexico Counties is a non-profit, nonpartisan association representing New Mexico’s 33 counties since 1936.
