Dear Friend,

Now that the legislative session in Santa Fe has concluded, here’s an honest update on what happened.
This year, I dedicated most of my e?orts towards restoring public safety, improving access to healthcare,
and eliminating government fraud, waste, and abuse. I am proud to report some positive progress.

I helped pass medical malpractice reforms designed to stop trial lawyers from driving doctors out of our
state. Together with the passage of the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact, New Mexico is primed
once again to recruit AND retain doctors. These were meaningful steps in the right direction that took
several years of sustained e?ort and advocacy.

I also supported stronger penalties for criminals who assault law enforcement o?icers and measures
to give authorities more tools to intervene when dangerous individuals pose a risk to themselves or
others. Our communities deserve to feel safe, and law enforcement o?icers deserve our full support.
Just as important as what passed is what we worked to stop. My Republican colleagues and I
successfully defeated the extreme environmental mandates in SB 18 that would have threatened jobs,
increased energy costs, and hurt working families. We killed the unconstitutional gun grab in SB 17 that
targeted law-abiding citizens instead of criminals. And we opposed policies that would have made our
communities less safe by weakening cooperation between state and federal law enforcement agencies.
Despite my fierce opposition, yet another state budget passed that increases government spending
fueled by burdensome new tax hikes. State spending under this administration has grown out of control
year after year, yet the results remain disappointing: crime remains high, education outcomes remain
low, and working families are falling further behind. Throwing more money at problems without
accountability —especially when so much is lost to fraud, waste, and abuse—just doesn’t work.

I made sure your voice was heard. We forced hard discussions on policies that deserved scrutiny, we
built bipartisan coalitions when possible, and stood firm when it mattered most.

My commitment moving forward is simple: protect your freedoms, support law enforcement, strengthen
rural healthcare, grow our economy, and be responsible with your tax dollars. I’m honored to serve you!

Yours,
Pat Boone
