Memorial services for Cory Jones, 41, of Portales will be at 10:30 AM, Fri., Dec. 1, 2017 at Trinity Assembly of God Church in Portales with Pastor Kelly Fuller officiating, assisted by Don Thomas and Ron Banister. Tyler Cabeldue, Cade Skinner, Denver Collins, Aaron Bales, Dion Hightower, Newt Skinner, Shawn Reid, and Wayne Franklin along with all of his many friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Cory Brenton Jones was born Jan. 19, 1976, in Clovis to Margie Faye (Boyd) and Stanley W. Jones, and died Saturday evening, Nov. 25, 2017 at his home in Portales. Cory grew up in Portales and graduated from Portales High School in 1994. While he was in school, he played football and baseball. He attended for a short time at Clovis Community College before leaving to work full time as an electrician for Myers Electric. In 1998, he took a position with Delco Electric based in Oklahoma City. He worked on numerous construction jobs in the Dallas Fort Worth area for several years. After his younger brother graduated from high school, Cory moved his brother and several other young men to the Dallas area to teach them the trade.
Cory was a devoted son, brother and father. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son, Logan, who was his world. Cory had a passion for watching the OU Sooners play on Saturdays and riding his motorcycle. He valued the meaning of family and often attended his nieces and nephews’ sporting events.

He is survived by his son, Logan; his mother, Margie Jones of Portales; his father, Stanley Jones and wife, Kathy of Lubbock; his brother and sister-in-law, Quinton and Crystal Jones of Portales; his sister and brother-in-law, Amanda and Rene Briones of Monahans, TX; two step-sisters, Kristy Hughes and husband, Matt of Hobbs, and Shelly Bilberry of Odessa, TX.

Cory is preceded in death by his grandparents, Genieva and Frank Jones and Alfred and Clara Boyd.
