PORTALES, NM – After a historic showing at the Lone Star Conference Championship meet, Eastern New Mexico University’s Marcus Parker earned recognition. The sophomore sprinter was chosen as the league’s Outstanding Male Track Athlete for the indoor season. Parker was one of six Greyhounds yo garner All-Lone Star Conference status.

The list of all-conference performers includes the first team, which consists of event winners, all members of the winning relay teams, and athletes scoring 14 or more points at the LSC Championships. The second team includes athletes scoring 8-13.9 points, and the third team those scoring 6-7.9 points. Overall, 51 men and 43 women were recognized. Garnering first team honors for ENMU was Parker, Kenneth Lloyd, Danee Bustos and Mason Swanson. Kandace Miles was a second-team honoree, while Ivar Moinat earned third team laurels.

Parker won both the 60m and 200m sprints at the LSC championship event in Lubbock Texas. His time of 6.77 in the 60m was both a conference and conference championship record. Parker finished the 200m dash with a LSC record time of 21.01. He will be competing in both events at this weekend’s NCAA Championship meet.

Lloyd won the LSC title in the men’s high jump. His leap of 2.15 meters ranks third in the nation and automatically qualified him to compete in this weekend’s national championship event.

???????Bustos had strong performances in both the 200m dash and high jump, setting ENMU records in both events. With a third-place performance in the 200m and fifth-place outing in the high jump, she accumulated 15 points. Bustos will compete in the 200m dash at this weekend’s championships.

Swanson picked up a conference title in the 800m run. She ran the event in 2:20.39 after posting a season-best 2:20.24 in the preliminaries.

Between the 200m and 400m dashes, Miles picked up 11 points. She registered fourth-place finishes in both events and posted season-best times of 24.57 and 55.96.

Moinat saved his best performance in the 800m run for the LSC Championship meet. His time of 1:53.24 was his best of the season.
