She was a 1964 graduate of Floyd High School. Following graduation, Pat went to Los Angeles where she worked in the office of the FBI. A year later, she returned home to marry her high school sweetheart, Douglas Richardson. They were married on Nov. 26, 1965 at the Nazarene Church in Clovis. They made their first home in Portales, but less than a year later moved to Carlsbad, NM. While living there she worked for the local newspaper for a time, and later as church secretary for a Baptist Church.
In 1974, the family moved to Santa Fe. While living in Santa Fe Pat had several different jobs. She worked as a checker in a grocery store, in an insurance office, for a CPA, and finally as a sales clerk at J. C. Penney’s. In addition, she and her husband developed a Shakley business, selling household and health products. She became very successful with Shakley, and earned several trips and even a car.

They eventually had distribution points in several locations on the East Coast, as well as in Florida, Branson, MO, and Clovis.
Pat was a marvelous cook. Her specialties included chicken and dumplings, German chocolate cake, enchiladas, salsa and Spanish rice among others. She collected recipes, and even produced a book of her recipes on an Apple computer and a dot matrix printer. She had 40 copies printed at a local office supply in Santa Fe that were then distributed to various family members and friends.
While living in Carlsbad, she was active in the Junior Woman’s Club. In Santa Fe she was in a synchronized swimming group. However, her most important activities involved her deep and abiding faith in Christ. She was very active the Eumaeus Community, and in the Grace Fellowship congregation.
