The Portales Rams traveled to Lovington on April 20, 2021 for a conference basketball game. Tip off was at 7 PM.

At the end of the 1st period, Portales was in the lead by only 1 point. Scoring in the first went back and forth, but Portales managed to squeeze by with a score of 17-16 at the end of the period.

Rolling into the 2nd, Lovington dropped a big 3-point shot, taking a 2 point lead, but the Rams quickly answered and tied it up. It was then that Lovington began to pull away slightly, taking a lead over Portales that continued to grow larger with each sunk bucket. The score at half was 37-28 with Lovington in the lead. The Rams answered a few of the points the Wildcats tacked on, but not enough to overcome the mount in deficit.

After half, Portales came out determined to overcome the 9 points they were down, and with some fouls from Lovington, it allowed the Rams to add on some extra scores. At the end of the 3rd, the Rams were only down 44-42.

Going into the 4th with a small 2 point deficit, the Rams had a great opportunity to take over the game. Unfortunately, the Wildcats kept tacking on field goals, leaving Portales behind. The final score was 64-50 with Lovington taking the win.

Portales is now 1-5 this season. Their next game is Friday, April 23 at 7 PM in Roswell against Goddard High.
