CITY MANAGER
Scott Mitten
The City of Portales is asking residents to be aware of their surroundings and let us know if they notice
any water that may indicate a possible leak. Overnight, the city observed a 2-foot drop in water levels in
the storage tanks, which equals about 200,000 gallons per tank. While there can be a variety of causes,
we want to ensure there are no unnoticed leaks in the community.
• How you can help:
• Please keep an eye out for any unusual standing water or areas that appear to be leaking.
• If you see anything that seems out of place, please report it so we can investigate it.
• Please do not leave faucets dripping overnight, as this can contribute to additional water loss.
• If you have been contacted by the city regarding a leak at your residence, please make sure the
leak is repaired as soon as possible to help prevent further water loss.
• To report a possible leak:
• Public Works: 575-356-6662 (Option 2)
• After Hours: 575-356-4404 (Option 2)
