The Fifth Annual 4-H Quilt Clinic was held July 10-13 in the McAlister room at the Jake Lopez building on the Roosevelt Country fair grounds.

The clinic was started by Micah Thomson and Amber McAlister to promote interest in sewing. It also renews a love for the age old art of piecing quilts and creating an unique design.

Amber who teaches the clinics picks out a quilt pattern that beginning quilters can finish in the four day clinic. A list of materials that are required are emailed out and participants can shop for the fabric that catches their eye. Most quilts are fully pieced the second day and are sandwiched together with batting and the backing.

Day 3 and 4 quilters are busy machine quilting and binding is placed on the quilts on days 4. In 4 days everyone takes home a finished project. The youngest quilters have been 8 year olds with participants up to high school.

Featuring Keira Mullins quilt.

The clinic is limited to 10 participants at a time.  For more information, contact The Roosevelt County Extension Office at 575-356-4417
