Air Force solicits interest in establishing a Restoration
Advisory Board at Cannon Air Force Base, New
Mexico

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas – The Air Force is seeking
community interest in establishing a Restoration Advisory Board, or “RAB,” at Cannon
Air Force Base, New Mexico.

A RAB is a working group of local community members, the Air Force, the
Environmental Protection Agency, and other State and local regulators to exchange
information and discuss Air Force environmental restoration activities associated with
Cannon Air Force Base. The RAB is also a forum from members of the community to
provide feedback at certain points throughout the restoration process.

The RAB solicitation will be posted in local newspapers on February 17 and the public
will have 45 days to comment. If there is enough public interest in discussing all
environmental activities at Cannon AFB, the Air Force will begin the process of formally
standing up the RAB.

The Air Force is also planning a virtual public meeting March 17 to discuss issues
associated with two perfluorinated compounds — perfluorooctane sulfonate and
perfluorooctanoic acid, or “PFOS/PFOA” identified at Cannon AFB. The meeting will
focus solely on the progress of the PFOS/PFOA response at Cannon AFB, and is open
to the public. Air Force Civil Engineer Center environmental experts will be available to
answer questions about the response.

More information about the meeting, including a link to the event, will be made available
to the public in early March.

The meeting link will be shared with the public via the Cannon AFB website, social
media platforms and in a press release closer to the March meeting date.
