Cowboys for Trump leader, Otero commissioner Couy Griffin gets phone call from President

It’s not every day that a county commissioner from rural New Mexico gets a call from the president of the United States.
But after Couy Griffin led the Cowboys for Trump to Washington D.C., via horseback, he caught President Donald J. Trump’s attention.
Griffin, who owns a barbecue restaurant and is chairman of the Otero County Commission, said he used the Feb. 24 phone call to advocate for better forest resource management and explain the Second Amendment Sanctuary issue to the president.

In mid February, a group of New Mexico ranchers set off on horseback on an eight-day, 170-mile trek from Maryland to Washington, D.C. Led by Griffin, the Cowboys for Trump wanted to show support for the president and raise awareness of certain issues.

“I’m a man of faith and praying on how we can support our president and I felt like (the ride) would be a strong way of support,” Griffin said.
Kina Davis from Spring Gap Farms in Cumberland, Maryland, provided the horses.
