Obituary

Funeral services for Roy Galban, 51, of Portales, will be at 2:00 PM, Fri., Jan. 21, 2022 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Frank Beaman officiating.  Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Miguel Garza, Miguel Garza, Jr., Bryan Schuler, Eddie Rodriguez, Beto Vargas and Hector Garcia serving as pallbearers.  All of his family and many friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Roy Leonard Galban was born July 6, 1970 in Portales.  He was a lifelong resident of Portales, and graduated from Portales High School in 1988.  People in Portales saw Roy riding his bicycle all over the city.  He was a very friendly and outgoing man, and had many friends.  He enjoyed listening to music and playing video games.  Roy was an avid Raiders football fan, and loved watching wrestling matches.  Roy never had children, but he took his nieces and nephew as his own, and loved to spoil them.  He was a member of Potter’s House church.

He is survived by his father, Otto Espinoza of Portales; his sister and brother-in-law, Eunice and Miguel Garza of Portales; his favorite niece, Danae Schuler and her husband, Bryan of Clovis, as well as another niece Mikela Garza of Portales and a nephew, Miguel Garza, Jr. and his wife, Rylie of Clovis; a great-niece, Natalie Schuler and a great-nephew, Kade Schuler; his aunts and uncles, Ralph Galban, Mary Galban and his favorite aunt, Margie Viera and her husband, George; a cousin, Margie Teresa Ruiz.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Espinoza.
