Obituary
Graveside services for Sherman Ray Parker, 80, of Dora, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 12, 2020, in the Portales Cemetery with Pastor Merle Roehr officiating. Burial will follow with Patrick Parker, Bert Parker, Dennis Bare, Brady Stroup, Donald Lewis, Tyler Stroup and Randy Jasso serving as pallbearers. Ken Waide, Jeff Gutzler and all of his truck driving buddies will be honorary pallbearers. Any of Sherman’s truck driving buddies are invited to join in the procession to the cemetery from Wheeler Mortuary.

The family will receive friends at Wheeler Mortuary from 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday, February 11, 2020.

Sherman Ray Parker was born on January 28, 1940, in Portales, New Mexico to the home of Katie Lee (McNabb) and Vernon Lee Parker and died on February 7, 2020 in Dora, NM. He served as a boiler man in the U.S. Navy for over 14 years and was a Vietnam Veteran. Sherman met and married Patricia Ann “Pat” Gulledge on May 18, 1966, in San Diego, CA. He worked as a truck driver for 40 plus years and also worked at the Dora Schools for a brief time. Sherman loved fishing and woodworking and especially loved playing numerous musical instruments. He will be missed by family and friends.

Sherman is survived by his children Tim Bare and wife Cheryl, Dennis Bare, Tracey Parker, Patrick Parker, Angel Stroup and husband Brady, Bert Parker and Michael Parker, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, his special friend, Wanda Stephenson and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Pat Parker, his parents, a daughter, Debbie Gibson, two brothers, Hershel and Jerry Parker and a sister, Mary Middleton.
