Your Impact. Your Community.

As we prepare to close out 2022, we are reflecting on the work that, with the support of Eastern New Mexico, we have accomplished over the last year.

We gave grants to 13 local organizations touching the lives of over 4,000 families, provided rent and utility assistance for over 500 households-stopping eviction and utility shut off, helped over 2,150 callers connect with services they needed, registered volunteers for over 1,400 agency volunteer needs.

#YouthSuccessENM

From the first No Worries Wall, to school supplies drive. We aim to ensure our community youth has the tools to thrive. Our work in 2022 included:

  • Summer Activity Guide-printing up all of the offerings for youth and families in our area
  • No Worries Walls providing students with toiletries and supplies across 10 school districts (22 walls installed)
  • Reality Check Day providing 9th graders with a day of adult financial responsibility
  • Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library providing 500 children with free books every month
  • School Supply Drives-collected over 16,000 items for Clovis/ Portales school teachers
  • Diaper Drive-provided over 25,000 diapers to keep babies healthy and happy.

A Better Life for Families

UWENM strives to offer financial assistance to break down barriers and obstacles for people trying to improve their life. Our work around this includes:

  • Game Changer Fund to help individuals with utilities and rent, fight eviction and homelessness; and other obstacles like temporary child care or minor car repairs—which can cause loss of job and school attendance
  • Successful You Career Closet helping women re-enter the workforce with professional attire
  • Winter Warmth fund allows UWENM to assist families with heaters and AC or fans when their situation becomes dire. In addition, we help gather funds for repairs that elderly and struggling homeowners can’t manage by themselves.

Additional Highlights from 2022:

Our very own Erinn Burch, not only celebrated her 20th anniversary as Executive Director with United Way of Eastern New Mexico this year, she also was invited to the White House in October. While in Washington, Erinn met with White House officials and staff to speak about the hundreds of families in the Curry and Roosevelt Counties who were assisted with the help of the CARES and ARPA funds granted to United Way of ENM for the last two years.
Erinn and Misty made a visit to the CMS Wildcats Camp in July to speak about the power of giving, advocating and volunteering.

They talked about the impact our attitudes and actions can have within our communities, schools and relationships. They also read a few books to the kids, one of them being Dolly Parton’s ‘I am a Rainbow’.

In an effort to identify barriers to services faced by families in the Curry & Roosevelt Counties, UWENM created the 100% Survey.

An in-depth report detailing these barriers was created.
