Dear New Mexico,
By: Senate Republican Leader Bill Sharer (R-Farmington)
Dear New Mexico,
For fellow New Mexicans reading this, I hope this message finds you and your families well. I want to do the opposite of what a public servant in the New Mexico Senate is supposed to do:
I want to ask you, the reader and constituent, for a favor.
Please pray for the future of our home, New Mexico.
I believe that through prayer, anything is possible. I believe that if we as New Mexicans come together through prayer that things can and will improve for the sake of our families, our children, our neighbors, and our communities.
I find it unnecessary to list each and every one of our state’s critical issues because we all live through and experience them daily. Furthermore, we are constantly reminded of the problems in our communities through social media, national rankings, and the nightly headlines on local news. I think every New Mexican can agree that we need serious improvement and we need it now.
In today’s political climate, making real progress towards solving our problems is a difficult thing to do. We can have disagreements on how to solve our problems but that becomes difficult when some elected officials actively ignore some problems and completely discredit the existence of others.
That’s okay.
What isn’t okay is the current state of our home, New Mexico. I believe that prayer is the most important thing each and every one of us can do at the individual level in order to heal and protect our families and our shared communities.
Make no mistake, I will continue to do everything I possibly can to improve our state through common sense policy but ultimately, prayer is the best thing anyone can do. I believe that so whole-heartedly that I am doing something no one in public service does these days… asking you to join me in prayer.
Regardless of fundraising numbers, news releases, polls, and even election outcomes; God is in control and it is through Him that our situation will improve. If you are reading this and dislike me or my party affiliation, no problem. I ask that you pray for our state anyways. To be completely honest, I think several of our state’s problems are rooted in the fact that our families don’t pray together as much as they used to.
Let’s change that.
As your Republican Floor Leader in the New Mexico Senate, I am praying for you and your family.
Please join me in praying for the future of New Mexico. God bless.
