Elijah Nehemiah Gallegos December 13, 2009 ~ October 24, 2026 (age 16)

Open visitation for Elijah Gallegos, 16, of Rogers, NM will be from 8 AM until 8 PM, Wed., Oct. 28, 2026 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel.  A memorial service will be held at 6:30 PM with Myrle Roehr officiating.  The members of the Dora High School Class of 2028 will be honorary pallbearers.

Elijah Nehemiah Gallegos was born Dec. 13, 2009 in Clovis, NM to the home of Petra Ponce.  Elijah grew up in the Rogers community and attended school in Dora where he was currently a Junior.  He was a straight A student.  He enjoyed playing video games, and had hoped to attend college and become a game designer.  Elijah was quick witted and could be sarcastic with just the right thing to say at just the right time.  At the same time, he had a sensitive and gentle nature.  He was known for his polite and respectful manners, and was well loved throughout the Dora community.  Elijah was very artistic and liked drawing pictures.  Another expression of his artistic ability was shown in his Lego creations.  In the words of one of his teachers, Elijah possessed a depth of character, brilliance and understanding of the world and people that most will never attain.

He is survived by his mother, Petra Ponce of Rogers; three sisters, Nevaeh Esperanza Gallegos of Lubbock, TX, Naihma Hope Gallegos of Rogers and Nadia Zanae Lopez of Rogers; his grandmother, Maria Petra Flores of Rogers; and three aunts, Julia Flores Ponce of Puelo, CO, Angelica Mendoza of Levelland, TX and Veronica Flores Ponce of Clovis, NM; as well as other family members and his many friends.
