Katy Love
March 11, 1934 – October 27, 2026
Willie Kathleen McCormack was born on March 11, 1934, in Rogers, New Mexico, to the home of Jessie (Richards) and Oscar McCormack, and died October 27, 2026, at the age of 92.
On August 30, 1953, Katy was married to Jim Gordon Brown and they worked with his dad ranching in the Durango, Colorado area before Jim was drafted into the Army and was stationed at Ft. Bliss Texas. Later they returned to the Four Corners area where they ranched with Jim’s brother and father. They bought a meat packing plant in Farmington and then moved to the Jicarilla Reservation where Jim was Livestock Manager. From there they moved to Roy and Mosquero, NM where Jim was Harding County Extension Agent. They then moved to the Corrales area where Jim served as Executive Director for the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association, and later, Katy was a secretary there. On January 14, 1985 they divorced.
Born to them were Darrell Jim Brown, Terry Ann Brown Booky, Gary Bob Brown, Mary Alice Brown and Kim Brown Smith. Jim died on July 9, 1996.
On February 3, 1990, Katy was married to Deryl Love. They always attended Red River Family Encampment. Deryl died on September 16, 2009.
She is survived by:
Her children: Darrell (Michelle) Brown, Weed, NM; Terry (Al) Booky, Cheyenne WY; Mary Brown, Whiteface, TX and Kim Smith, Canyon City, OR.
Her grandchildren: Danny (Lacy) Brown, Lynda (Brian) Kirchner, David (Kerri ) Brown, Audra Pleasant, Riata (Kirk) Brown, Jay Ketcherside, Jocelynn Smith and Marissa Smith.
Her great-grandchildren: Zale (Ashley), Reagan, C.J., Easton, Kesler, Cayson, Oaklynn, Annli, Rykin, Logan, Aaron and Kaylee.
Her great-great grandchildren, Mallory and Claire.
Her Siblings: Joann Blakey, Nina Fondy, Louis and Kay McCormack.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Jessie McCormack, her brother, Eddie McCormack, her sister Gail Reynolds, Jim Brown, their son, Gary Bob Brown, nephews Dick Blakey, Terry Reid, Kim Blakey, Kody Vaughan, niece Nita Blaakmeer, and Deryl Love, Buster Blakey, Lou Fondy and Mike Reynolds.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary of Portales. A private family burial will be held at Inez Cemetery. Please send condolences to the family in care of Wheeler Mortuary.
