The City of Portales would like to announce that City Manager Sammy Standefer has informed the City Council of his intent to retire, effective May 28, 2021. Sammy has served as City manager since 2015 and has been with the City close to 29 years.
Mr. Standefer began his full-time career with the City in September of 1992 mowing at the Portales cemetery and in the city parks. Since that time, he has served as planning and zoning director and city building inspector.
Mayor Ron Jackson will name a search committee in the near future.
