PORTALES, NM – August 5, 2022 – Staff and faculty at Eastern New Mexico University are excited to welcome students back to campus this fall as classes get underway. While the first day of classes at Eastern is Aug. 16, things officially kick off Aug. 13 with the annual Dawg Days events.

“Like everyone at Eastern, I consider Dawg Days my favorite event of the year,” said ENMU President Patrice Caldwell. “More than an orientation to the campus, it’s when new students join our Greyhound family and meet the faculty, staff, and classmates who will support their college careers.”

Student move-in day, traditional and non-traditional student orientation, student and community fairs and a community barbeque are among the many events scheduled for the weekend of Aug. 13-15. A full schedule of events is online at enmu.edu/DawgDays.

I’m really excited this year, we’ve worked hard over the summer to make this memorable,” said Calvin Grace, a senior at ENMU and Dawg Days Coordinator. “I’ve always loved Dawg Days because of how close we get to the freshmen and the bonds we create that last beyond this weekend. The friendships you make can last a lifetime.”

“This is ENMU’s way of saying we’re glad you are here, and we’re here for your success,” Caldwell said. “Meeting students and their families and watching students make friends and get comfortable on campus are a great start to the academic year.”
