This is James Elementary’s third year participating in their very own Pumpkin Character Project. Fe Soriano, a 1st grade teacher at James explained that she had brought this fun and interactive program from a  Clovis school where she had previously taught at.  “My first year I had five or six kiddos, they saw it and thought ‘wow this is really cool!’ It’s a really cool way to bring literacy into a household. The kids are to choose a character from a story. They decorate the pumpkin with the character they chose and they also have a written portion of why they chose it. ”

This is Gracelynn Alcozer she is in Diane Maez’ Class.

Gracelynn approached us with a smile and said proudly “This one is mine! My mom helped me cut all the dots.”

Video below contains photos of everyone’s pumpkin creations.
