Funeral services for Myrna Brown, 82, of Portales, will be held at 10:00 AM, Fri., Mar. 17, 2023 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Tim King officiating.  Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Myrna Lee Brown was born Dec. 21, 1940 in Portales, to the home of Blanche (Gardner) and Benjamin Rudolph Fuller, and died early on the morning of Mar. 13, 2023 in Portales.  She was a graduate of Causey High School in 1958, and went on to attend college at Eastern New Mexico University.  It was there that she met Dale Brown, and they were married in Causey on Feb. 4, 1960.  For the majority of her lifetime, Myrna lived in the Milnesand area where she and her husband ranched and farmed.  While living there, she was a member of the Dora Church of Christ.

In 1994, they moved to Portales to make their home, and she moved her membership to the Third and Kilgore Church of Christ, and later to the Portales Valley church.  Myrna always grew a large garden and canned the produce for her family.  She also loved to work in her yard, which she always kept in immaculate condition.  In addition, Myrna was always at Dale’s side, helping him with whatever project he was working on.  For as long as she was physically able, she continued doing yard work, and keeping herself busy.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Wendell and Michele Brown of Gillette, WY; a daughter and son-in-law, Lee Ann and Ronny Foster of Portales; six grandchildren, Terra (Tim) King, Kaylee Foster, Leslie (Shane) Shepherd, Rebekah Brown, Bonnie (Mason) Ehrhart, and Benjamin Brown; nine great-grandchildren, Saige, Kasin, Joe, and Will Shepherd, Aleta Ehrhart, Kassidy, Katie, Hezakiah and Maverick King; and a sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Dub Moore of Ardmore, OK.  She was preceded in death by both of her parents and by her husband, Dale Brown, who died Dec. 27, 2020 after more than 60 years of marriage.
