Priscilla Archibeque Obituary
A rosary for Priscilla Archibeque, 80, of Portales, will be recited at 7:00 P.M., Thursday, January 1, 2026, at St Helen Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 2, 2026, at St Helen Catholic Church with Fr. Francisco Carbajal officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Michael Lucero, Ricky Ornelas, Tristian Wycuff, Draven Saiz, Pete Salas, Rene Pando, Leonardo Holquin and Robert Urioste serving as pallbearers.
Priscilla Ramona (Garcia) Archibeque was born on April 26, 1945 in Duran, New Mexico, to the home of Delores (Madril) and Juan J. Garcia and passed away on December 26, 2025, in Clovis, New Mexico.
Priscilla grew up in Duran with her grandparents. She married Louis Archibeque on May 2, 1962 in Duran, NM and they made their home in Vaughn. They had three children, a son and two daughters before they divorced. In 1978 she moved to Portales. She worked at her family’s restaurants, first at La Hacienda then at El Rancho before she retired to take care of her grandchildren.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her sisters, the Golden girls. She loved to travel, shop, and participate in the Cursillos at her church, St Helen’s in Portales. She loved to laugh, she had the best sense of humor, the biggest heart, and she gave the best hugs. Her house was always open to everybody.
She is survived by her daughters Diana Lucero of Lubbock, TX and Janice (Antonio) Castillo of Portales; her grandchildren Ruby Granado of Killeen, TX, Rachel Archibeque of Dumas, TX, Ricky Ornelas and Sophia (Draven) Saiz both of Portales, Erica Ornelas and Amanda Ornelas both of Addison, TX, Antonio Castillo Jr., Reena Castillo, Sanaie (Cristian) Mendez, and Ozzlynn Castillo all of Vaughn, NM, Lydia Castillo of Rio Rancho, NM, Michael Lucero of Lubbock, TX and Adrianna (Tristian) Wycuff of Big Rapids, MI; 22 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Aurora Flores of Portales and Mable Urioste of Ponca City, OK; two brothers, Andy (Mary) Garcia of Roswell, NM and Rudy (Virgie) Garcia of Portales.
She is preceded in death by her son Danny Archibeque, her parents Juan and Dolores Garcia, two brothers Lorenzo and Arthur Garcia and four sisters Josie Garcia, Sadie Tapia, Jane Salas, and Dorothy Montoya.
