Robert Burnett Obituary
A graveside service for Robert Burnett, 73, of Portales, New Mexico, will be held at a later date.
Robert Lynn Burnett was born on November 22, 1952, in Portales, New Mexico to the home of Julia Omega (Speckman) and David Pierpont Burnett, and died on September 18, 2026, in Portales, New Mexico.
Robert grew up in Portales and graduated from Portales High School in 1970. He received a degree in accounting from the Eastern New Mexico University. Robert worked with his father on the farm growing and harvesting peanuts. He also helped take care of his mother when her health declined.
Robert enjoyed the family deer hunting trips they went on as a kid. Later in life he would enjoy watching the stock market and investing in many of the penny stocks he thought might be a good investment. He really loved his family and enjoyed buying gifts for his nieces.
Robert is survived by his brother David Burnett, Jr. & wife Renee of Tucson, Arizona; his nieces, Julia Burnett and Stephanie Keefe & husband James; his great niece Zoey Keefe and his great nephew A.J. Keefe, all of Tucson, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Charles F. Burnett.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Portales.
