Rocklin “Rocky” Kearney Howard, 70, of Portales, NM, passed away on March 1, 2024, in Amarillo, TX following a breif illness. He was born on October 27, 1953, in Farmington, NM. Rocky was an electrician at ENMU from 1988 until his retirement in 2013.

 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Nikki, sons Cameron Howard (Reina), grandchildren Ethan, Reanne, and Samuel, all of Portales, NM and Jared Howard (Corey) of Raymond, ME. He is also survived by his mother Lila Watkins of Amarillo, TX, sisters Tresban Giron (Orlando) of Pojoaque, NM, Tracy Velasquez (Bert) of Amarillo, TX, brothers Rory Howard of Plano, TX, Billy Howard (Brenda) of Talihina, OK, brother-in-law Eldon Hays (Sissy) of Portales, NM, step-sisters, Sandy Howard (Grubb) of Clovis, NM, Jill Bonner of Amarillo, TX and step-brother, Scott Watkins of Clovis, NM as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Rocky took pride in his property, always keeping it looking nice and tidy. He was a sportsman at heart, enjoying many activities throughout the years, but his favorite activity was spending time with his 3 grandchildren.

 

No formal services will be held. A private memorial will be planned at a later date. If desired, contributions in Rocky’s memory may be made to the Christian Children’s Home, 1356 NM-236, Portales, NM 88130.

 

Rocky was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Howard, and step-father, Donald Watkins.
