Graveside services for Charlotte L. Hill, formerly of Portales, NM will be held Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 1:00 PM in the Portales Cemetery. This will be a gathering of family and friends.
Charlotte Hill was born July 23, 1931 in Fresno, CA to Alberta and John Bippus and passed in Sparta, TN on August 30, 2018.
Charlotte spent much of her young life in central California and Oregon. She began her high school years in Bakersfield where she met her future husband, Les Hill. He drove the school bus she rode to school every day. However, she moved to Coquille, OR and finished high school, graduating in 1949. As fate would have it, she moved back to Fresno in January 1951 and reconnected with her high school sweetheart, and they were married Oct. 20, 1951.
Life was an adventure for the 57 years for Les and Charlotte. Raising three children, traveling the country with their RV from Alaska to New York, to Missouri to Montana, and all points in between. She retired from Security Pacific Bank after over 30 years in banking. She is also a Past Worthy Matron of Order of Eastern Star, Eschscholtzia chapter #270, Coalinga, CA.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Marty) Anderson of Quincy, CA and Linda (Bruce) Linsten of Spencer, TN; daughter-in-law, Debbie (Jene) Hill-Beal of Bakersfield, CA; five grandchildren, Stephanie Anderson, Sarah (Nick) Hillar, John (Chantel) Webster-Hill, Brent (Jennifer) Hill and Christine (Tydus) Kiger and 12 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Virgil Martin; Les Hill, her husband of 57 years; her son Bruce Hill and her brother, Lenny Martin.
Honorary pallbearers are Bruce Linsten, Marty Anderson, John Webster-Hill, Brent Hill, Tydus Kiger and Nick Hillar.
